On a Related Note, a Google Search for "Rubik's Cube" Turns Up No Shortage of Entertaining Hits

OK, so what makes you feel dumber--a regular dude solving a Rubik's cube in 11 seconds:
--OR--
A five year old solving it in a minute and a half:
I expect well-reasoned responses on this one.
not only has this confirmed my own stupidity, but also did you notice that this child completed the rubik's cube in what looks like a mcdonald's or other fast food joint? not only is he beyond his years, but also, it is not exactly a prime-test-taking-environment.
also, something else, do the people in the competition all start with their cubes in the same position so it's fair?
clearly a slow day at work.

after going back and forth on this one, i have decided that it is far more belittling that a five year old can solve it in a minute and a half. the reason being that a rubiks cube is a system, and this system can be exploited. obviously the normal man has spent a great length of time learning the tricks to efficiently beat the system. but the five year old probably relied on his own smarts to beat the cube. thats why i feel dumber for thinking so long on the answer to your question.

Emily, I did notice that and I thought it was weird. I was also wondering the same thing about the competition. I have some pretty slow days at work myself.
Commenter #2, those are my thoughts exactly. Plus, there's just something so offensive on the most basic level about watching a little boy do something you can't do yourself.

Lauren, remember when Mina and Gina made those elaborate puppets out of foam that looked like something a studio art major would have spent more than a couple hours on? This is just further proof that Asians are better than me at everything.
